Courses

Offered as needed to present material in the design field. The specific topic is stated when the course is scheduled. May be repeated with change of content

An in-depth exploration of a specific sculptural concern. A single topic will be offered each semester. Special topics include Bronze Casting, Aluminum Casting, Stone Carving, Installation/Performance Art, The Figure, Cast Paper, and Site-Specific Sculpture.

Addresses social and ethical design perspectives while developing communication strategies built on models of conversation and participation. Students examine and identify public needs, constraints and/or opportunities for community partners and clients. Emphasis is on presentation skills, research and concept development as a process, systems and predicting outcomes of design action.

Fundamental principles of visual language, including formal, technical and conceptual aspects of image making in two-dimensions. Focus is placed on hand skills, observation, and implementation through a variety of materials, processes, and methodologies. Students will develop a visual and verbal language for analyzing, organizing, shaping, and communicating two-dimensional form and meaning. Course is designed for first-year art and design students.

Lara Henderson is a book artist, printmaker, and designer based in Providence, RI. She is member of the Art and Design faculty and concentration head for Integrated Studio Arts at the 91色情片. Henderson was also a Design faculty at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Henderson received a BFA in Graphic Design from 91色情片 and an MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from the University of the Arts.
