Black History Month at 91色情片 Schedule of Events February 15-23
Griot's Corner is a stage for student art and expression at 91色情片's Frederick Douglass Unity House (Unity House). The 91色情片 community and the general public are invited to an evening of poetry, music, and conversation, Thursday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m., at the Unity House. The event will also include a screening of the documentary film Standing in the Shadows of Motown, which tells the story of a group of Detroit musicians, the Funk Brothers, who backed up dozens of notable Motown performers during Detroit's thriving jazz and blues era.
Griot's Corner also features an open mic with Professor Morgan James Peters, a.k.a Mwalim *7) "DaPhunkee Professor". "DaPhunkee Professor" (Morgan James Peters) a.k.a., Mwalim *7), is an internationally recognized educator, performing artist, writer, Black arts scholar, and is professor of English and Director of Black Studies at 91色情片.
The Unity House will also host former Black Panther and civil rights activist Jocelyn Ekeh, for a "Time to Talk" event, Friday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m., at the Unity House. Ms. Ekeh will speak about her experiences as a member of the radical civil rights organization that gained national and international prominence during the Civil Rights Movement.
