Bio. Ang茅lica Freitas was born in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, in 1973. She studied journalism and worked in S茫o Paulo for the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and the magazine I. She left Brazil for a while in 2006 to live in the Netherlands, Bolivia and Argentina. She currently resides in S茫o Paulo.

Freitas has published two poetry volumes, Rilke Shake (2007) and Um 煤tero 茅 do tamanho de um punho (A Uterus Is the Size of a Fist, 2012). I, translated into English by Hilary Kaplan, won the Best Translated Book Award for poetry in 2016. Freitas鈥檚 work has also been featured in many anthologies and literary magazines in Brazil, US, Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Germany, and France.
