This is the DNP introduction to residency course designed to support development of the DNP scholarly project and introduce the DNP residency experience. The course focuses on聽identifying聽a聽project focus,聽conducting a comprehensive literature聽review,聽and critically appraising evidence using established evidence-based practice rating systems to inform project development. Students will聽identify聽and apply聽an聽appropriate theoretical聽or conceptual framework to guide the聽development of their聽scholarly project. During the聽residency聽component,聽students will complete a聽site-based聽needs assessment and synthesize current evidence to support problem identification and project planning. Course development is guided by the AACN (2021) Essentials, the ANA Code of Ethics (2025), the NONPF Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies (2022), the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Competencies (2016), and the APNA Scope and Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practice (2022)聽
